Katie Lagast

After her mother's death, Lagast inherited boxes and boxes full of pieces of cloth in all kinds of colours. She chose all the shades of pink and noticed that they were pieces of clothing that her mother had cut into patterns and transformed into clothing for the whole family.The artist delicately combined these pieces of cloth to form two huge patches. She knitted the parts of clothing together by hand, showing the thread and the wire ends. The patchworks are hung with recycled hooks the artist found in her mom's house. They are as silent witnesses to a lived life and show to the audience their different layers and shadows.
